The Castle View High School Theatre Company is currently working on their latest production: a magical adaptation of the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast. With the success of last season’s Legally Blonde the Musical, CVHS has established itself as a school that produces quality entertainment. This year, the theatre company is reaching new heights by incorporating flying sequences into the beginning and end of the production. In an interview with Castle Rock News Press, Director, Rochelle Walter explained that the flying is being used to unite all the elements of the story; it shows the beast’s enchantment in the beginning of the play and him breaking free from his curse in the end. Walter also thought this element would incorporate some of the “Disney magic” that was seen in the 1991 film. In order to insure the safety of the students and to perfect the stunt, the CVHS Theatre Company worked with professional flying company, Fly by Foy.
In this adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, the cast includes junior Kellie Cage as Belle, senior Ramon Alvarez as the Beast, senior Jacob Wolfe as Gaston, and senior Erica Caruso as Mrs. Potts. All of the 20 crew members, 50 actors, and 25 orchestra musicians involved in this production are dedicated students who want to make Beauty and the Beast the best it can be. It will premiere on November 18th at 7pm, and will run from the 18th-21st at this time. There will also be a matinee performance on the 21st at 1pm. Performances will be held in the Castle View High School auditorium (5254 N Meadows Dr Castle Rock, CO). Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. You can purchase them at the door or online at SeatYourself.biz.
